Young Residence

The Young Residence was designed to take advantage of the site. The garage and upper floor are rotated on different axis in order to address different conditions. The garage addresses the street/driveway and the upper floor addresses the views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The centrally located fireplace becomes a focus of not only the great room, but the kitchen and dining area as well.

The Drew Residence uses simple forms and geometry to create shadows and interest on the front façade. The scale of the entry and steps leading up to the entrance emphasizes the act of entering. The entrance becomes a procession, starting at the driveway and ending in the vestibule. The living area is spacious accentuating the grandness of the house, while maintain simplicity of spaces and forms.

The main living area of the O’Rourke residence features an open floor plan with spacious rooms. The house is oriented to take advantage of the great views to the ski area. The stone wainscot and thick fascia grounds the house giving it a presence.

The Roach Residence includes a guest suite over the garage (sometimes referred to as a mother-in-law unit). The side entry is utilized by both units and is the main circulation for the residence. The main entry is articulated by the extrusion of the roof and porch. The materials are an eclectic mix of corrugated metal and wood board and batten siding.

The Schulman Residence features a photographer’s studio, and a custom kitchen with an island designed specifically for the client. The stepping of masses allows for windows into every space. The mixture of materials and color further visually breaks up the mass of the house. The internally focused floor plan creates spaces that are inviting to use. Each detail is thought out in the house from which type of truss to use on the outside; to the material to use on the side glass of the entry door.

The Cliff House’s use of striking diagonals makes it stand out architecturally from its surroundings. Its form follows the landscape; stepping down as it moves down hill. The large windows are not only architecturally interesting, but take advantage of the amazing views and natural light.

Heavenly View’s site placement and use of natural materials creates an architecturally sensitive palate that unobtrusively blends it with the surrounding hillside; creating a strong sense of place. The homes design features an interconnected great room, dining room and kitchen under expansive clerestoried vaults. Large windows take advantage of the spectacular views and create an amazing light-filled grand space. The kitchen is warm, inviting, and has state-of-the-art appliances. Throughout the house there are handcrafted details from the exposed trusses to the tiling in the bathrooms. The house is all about quality materials, detailing, and site specific orientation.

The entry’s scale and exposed timber truss with stone pillars creates an impressive welcome for the visitor. The interior generates striking spaces throughout with vaulted ceilings and exposed timbers. Warmth is spread through the house with multiple fireplaces and cozy nooks.
